As a licensed and nationally certified Professional Counselor, I've helped many clients overcome challenges, achieve their goals and experience life more fully. My private practice offers a place for people to be themselves. Counseling sessions are relaxed, casual and tailored for individuality.

Using evidence based therapies, I provide objective feeback, insight and guidance to help you cope with problems and develop healthier, more effective habits. I also teach and practice new skills so you can better deal with future challenges and opportunities as they arise.

The counseling process assists you to make changes in your life. Whether you want to improve relationships, deal more effectively with stress, manage your emotions, or begin exploring your full potential, counseling has the ability to be a catalyst for changes you desire. My office provides an environment where you can feel free to express yourself without being judged.

Although I use a variety of techniques, I typically adopt a solution-focused approach to therapy that is collaborative, practical, and goal-driven.

This approach assumes that you have some knowledge of what would make your life better, even though you need help describing the details of that better life. In other words, everyone who seeks help already possesses at least the minimal skills necessary to create solutions to their problem.

Another method used is Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT). CBT is founded on the evidence that it is primarily our thoughts, and not events or other people that cause negative feelings. CBT teaches you how to identify and test the reality of your thoughts, and learn how to correct unhealthy thinking patterns.

I want to acknowledge the courage and vulnerability it must be taking for you to reach out and consider counseling as a solution to your difficulties. I understand what it is like to feel pain and I want to help.

My own experiences with anxiety and depression have contributed to my effectiveness in helping others find their way out of distress into more contented and productive lives.

I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) as well as a National Certified Counselor (NCC).

I first earned a Bachelor of Science in Social Work at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Later I attended the University of North Alabama and  earned a Master of Arts in Community Counseling. 

I have worked in the helping profession for over 15 years. My experience includes providing counseling services to individuals and families in outpatient and hospital settings as well as home-based and in-school therapy programs.
